Haystak's Last Warehouse Ride

The Clarksvillian

Haystak is alive? If that was your first reaction to The Warehouse announcing next month’s show, you’re not alone. The Nashville rap star has been the subject of death rumors since 2013 and he’s laughed them off each time only hitting back stronger than ever.

Not only is Haystak still prowling stages nationwide, he’ll be back in town again on June 17th as part of the extended "goodbye" from the Warehouse. And surprise, surprise - it's not the big man's birthday this time around! The industry vet recently flexed his muscles with a rare 20th industry anniversary and has taken some deserved time off to regroup - which makes this Clarksville show an even more special appearance.

Maybe you fall into the small camp of not being familiar with the Haystak catalog? Depending on your genre preferences, you may be surprised to hear as many as eight Top 25 albums during his show setlists. The big man's sound is definitely west coast with a more than occasional hint of an old school Too Short and that old Oakland sound. This show is a must-see experience.

If you’re expecting to hear the same old industry rhymes about legal issues, this may not be your show. Several years ago, Haystak's tough talking lyrical persona loosened to reveal a more reflective side. Sharing a goodbye with his longtime friends at the Warehouse may prove to be an even deeper night for reflection.

As everyone is aware, The Warehouse shows are winding down through their August closing. Don't miss another opportunity to share some of Clarksville's best local musical experiences.
